Description
A Western Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio rutulus) foraging for nectar on Lavender flowers in a Fraser Valley garden. A Western Tiger Swallowtails are one of the common species of butterfly in the southwestern corner of British Columbia, Canada. The adult Western Tiger Swallowtails are Nectarivores, feeding on nectar from flowers only. The immature caterpillars feed on plant leaves - mostly cottonwood and birch but including willows and wild cherry.
