Description
Bigleaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum) leaves and the Richard Maxwell Root Cellar (1901) at Burgoyne Bay. This barrel-roof shed was built by Richard Maxwell in 1911 on his farm near Burgoyne Bay on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. The Maxwell Farm, later the Larsen Farm, is now part of Burgoyne Bay Provincial Park. The Root Cellar was used for storage of crops such as such as apples, carrots, turnips, potatoes, and squash.
